Benefits Consultant (Project Management)
Position Title: Benefits Consultant
Position Reports to: Executive Benefits Consultant
Position Supervises: No Direct Reports
The Benefits Consultant is responsible for supporting the mission statement and production goals by establishing new customer relationships and retaining and expanding existing customer relationships. Demonstrate and implement our Trusted Advisor strategy to all internal and external customers.
· Identify, research and cultivate prospective customers.
· Educate clients on insurance options, benefits, coverage levels, risks, exclusions, premiums.
· Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers.
· Maintain compliance with policies, procedures and documentation, including insurance proposal preparation.
· Collaborate with Benefits Account Executive and Benefits Account Manager in providing ongoing service to customers, such as handling the renewal process, evaluating and explaining premium increases or plan changes and obtaining feedback that will help improve service levels.
· Maintain book of business production goals as assigned.
· Identify areas of financial and employee well-being improvements to build deeper relationship with current customers and attract prospective customers (clinics, wellness, alternative funding concepts).
· Identify and utilize opportunities to build deeper client relationships through the solicitation of additional lines of employee benefit coverages, referrals to First Insurance Property & Casualty lines of business and First Federal Bank partners.
· Keep abreast of, and adopt, changes to insurance compliance rules, agency procedures, processes and workflows.
· Complete continuing education requirements in order to renew health and life insurance license.
· Participation in various community events and activities.
· Complete other duties as assigned.
· Bachelor's degree in related business field and/or equivalent experience
· Health and life insurance license required
· Three years of insurance experience
· Knowledge and understanding of the agency's products, services, policies and procedures, as well as insurance industry regulations
· Knowledge of carrier's products and available coverages
· Overall knowledge of the insurance industry
· Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of computer software applications including Excel and PowerPoint
· Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
· Goal-oriented personality, with high degree of professionalism
· Excellent organization and customer service skills, analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
· Proactive and forward thinking
· Flexibility and time management skills
· Confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA security guidelines a must
· Responsible for knowing and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, as detailed in policies that include but are not limited to Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable anti-money-laundering rules, Right to Financial Privacy, Fair Lending, Community Reinvestment Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and other laws and regulations as they pertain to the position.
This job operates in a professional office environment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.

Ability to drive a vehicle for travel is required for the position.
