Staff Accountant (Finance)

We are currently looking for a Staff Accountant in Minneapolis, MN.

This position will work with the Capital Markets accounting team and share responsibility for preparing and maintaining accurate records daily & at month-end close. This position will primarily work with the Public Finance and Fixed Income business lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger. Maintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts related to Public Finance revenues and expenses
  • Monitor the incoming wire account associated with banking revenues and record related journal entries
  • Create general ledger journal entries and adjustments, complete monthly account reconciliations and prepare associated schedules and reports for management
  • Prepare and record revenue and/ or expense-related data for Public Finance syndicate closings
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting practices, systems, and procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks, responsibilities and projects as assigned

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • 0 - 2 years of work experience required, financial services experience a plus
  • Must possess a solid foundation in accounting fundamentals
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business environments - individual will be working in an environment which requires interaction with various levels of staff and management
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word) required

The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $60,000 - $70,000 per year. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience, location and other factors. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be a part of the total compensation. Total compensation for this position will be competitive with the market.
