Supplier Merchandising Specialist - Remote (Finance)



Purpose:

Responsible for the management and execution of a wide range of projects and activities as it relates to Supplier Merchandising that includes, but not limited to: promotional planning, new supplier and/or new item set up, development of processes/procedures, engagement with internal and external constituents, etc. Establishes professional working relationships with internal and external customers in order to provide insights, guidance, and support to drive retained income and an enhanced Supplier experience.

The Sales team is responsible for providing high quality, streamlined service with a focus on corporate initiatives for their assigned customer(s). Our sales team is crucial in delivering the widest variety of fresh, branded, and owned brand products to community grocers and retail chains alike. With an ever-expanding selection of 1,000 new products every month, our team helps maximize sales with the right assortment of products based on customers' demographics and lifestyle. We are responsible for creating relationships of trust, integrity, customer satisfaction and loyalty to help our customers achieve their goals, delivering better together.

  • Promotional Planning & Analytics 40%
  • Develops and maintains promotional planning tools including, but not limited to - sell sheets, promotional planning calendars, deadline calendars
  • Establishes and manages analytical insights associated with work tasks - promotional effectiveness, accuracy, timeliness, revenue performance, etc. Conducts research and analysis of competitive conditions, customer needs, and market trends
  • Negotiates directly with suppliers on programs assigned to drive and support overall team achievement to delivery against retained income.

Supplier Onboarding Management & Project Management 40%
  • Develops project plans, timelines and deliverables for the team such as key customer onboarding, dc onboarding, and assortment projects - conducts calls with internal stakeholders, manages project deliverables, and participates in customer calls.
  • Manages and tracks projects to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of agreed upon metrics/deliverables.
  • Works directly with suppliers to manage and execute documentation to conduct business with UNFI - New Item/New Supplier, Pack/Price Changes, Promotional forms, etc.
  • Manages the paperwork flow of required documentation within the UNFI network - ensures all paperwork gets completed on time and accurately and communicated to all key stakeholders

Misc. 20%
  • Participates in Supplier and Broker meetings.
  • Actively participates in trade show preparation, execution, reporting, and on-site support.

Job Requirements: Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent of work-related experience. :
  • 3 or more years' experience in office environment within a related field.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of promotional elements, customer motivations, marketing functions, procedures, and standards.
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into meaningful and actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information in a clear and concise manner.

Work Environment- Remote Role:

This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
