  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more specialized environmental domains (e.g., air quality, ecological resources, cultural/historic resources, water resources, socioeconomics, health and safety, or risk analysis).
  • Ensure NEPA documents comply with DOE NEPA regulations (10 CFR Part 1021) and Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) guidance.

  • Review assumptions, methodologies, and data quality to ensure consistency, accuracy, and defensibility.
  • Provide expert recommendations to improve document clarity, regulatory compliance, and integration of interdisciplinary analyses.
  • Support consultations with federal, state, and tribal agencies, as needed, by providing technical expertise and review of supporting materials.
  • Assist in ensuring that public comments and agency feedback are appropriately addressed in revised NEPA documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of quality assurance processes, document templates, and technical standards.

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen (required under SOW).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal skills, with the ability to provide clear and constructive technical feedback.
  • Remote Work: Ability to work independently and provide expert consultation in a remote environment.
