Workplace Accommodation Coordinator (Finance)



This position serves as a liaison between the employer, employee, and treating physician to get the employee back to work at their full capabilities as quickly as possible. This results in lower out of work days and other associated positive outcomes on the Workplace Accommodation claims.
The Workplace Accommodation Coordinator is responsible for managing the release information from doctor's appointments and resulting work statuses resulting from a Workplace Accommodation claim following written guidelines and procedures pursuant to ADA, State, and/or client requirements. This empowers Workplace Accommodation Coordinators to optimize their time and clearly measure the outcomes of their work.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 + years of STD/LTD claims adjudication.
  • Experienced in the TPA or self-administration services is desired
  • Experience with FMLA/State leave claims is a plus
  • Aptitude for learning medical terminology and conditions, as well as interpreting procedures and regulations
  • Ability to work independently while assimilating various technical resources
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information, determine a course of action and implement the selected course of action.
  • Effective interpersonal skills capable of dealing with external sources and all levels of employees.
  • Strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
  • Capable of quickly learning new tools.
  • Experience with excel at least at a beginner level is required.
  • Ability to interpret and manipulate tables of data to draw conclusions and identify trends.

  • Receives and reviews accommodation requests
  • Conducts initial employee interview per process guidelines.
  • Informs claimants of documentation required to process claims, required time frames, and claims status either by phone, written correspondence and/or claims system.
  • Reviews medical information to determine if the claimant meets the requirements under ADA, state, and/or client requirements for a qualifying condition.
  • Makes claim determinations to approve non-complex ADA claims or makes a recommendation to team lead to deny claims based on the ADA, state, and/or client requirements. Processes ADA claims ensuring compliance with duration control guidelines, ADA and state regulations, and/or client-specific process provisions.
  • Determines accommodation options; makes timely claims referrals for appropriate disability or federal/state leave of absence eligibility reviews where applicable.
  • Maintains professional client relationships.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

  • Assists in facilitating light duty accommodations and assisting employees in transitioning to full duty and provides alternative work solutions if unable to return to light or full duty.
  • Reviews claim data with clients using various reports and tools to articulate, administer, and manage processes for updating claims across systems.
  • Collaborates with technical operations to maintain and update the business requirements for enhancing the tools leveraged in the RTW service model.
  • Serves as a liaison between the employer, employee, and treating physician to facilitate workplace accommodations. This results in lower out of workdays and other associated positive outcomes on the claim.
