Broadband Services Supervisor Reports to: Broadband Services Superintendent Job Summary: This position is responsible for supervising and supporting Broadband Services employees and the activities related to the engineering, design, construction, and maintenance of the HBPW fiber-optic broadband network. Essential Duties Supervise and evaluate all work of Broadband Services OSP network engineers, technicians, and support staff dedicated to operational efficiency and effectiveness. Assist customers in all aspects of broadband service. Responsible for safety, training, coaching, and general guidance to employees. Develop work and material standards, processes, and workflows for the Broadband Services system. Prepare and approve work orders, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Broadband construction projects. Responsible for ongoing development of Broadband Geographical Information System (GIS) application and data. Provide technical assistance to field personnel and other support staff to ensure Broadband system integrity and reliability of Internet Service to HBPW customers. Identify, evaluate and prepare long-range plans for HBPW network maintenance, improvements, and modifications, including the five-year capital budget plan. Support the annual development and maintenance of the departmental expense budget. Function as project manager on large projects. Perform all other tasks as assigned. Essential Qualifications Bachelors degree in network engineering or a related technical field; or equivalent education and experience. At least four years experience in fiber optic engineering and network operations, or related field (for example, electrical distribution, information technology). Interpersonal skills necessary to manage the activities of a diverse group of employees and to work productively with all levels of organizational personnel. At least two years of supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications Effective workplace skills as demonstrated through WorkKeys assessments (Workplace Documents 5, Applied Math 5, Graphic Literacy 5). Five or more years of supervisory experience. Customer support experience. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Majority normal office environment with minimum discomfort due to noise, dirt, and dust. Work includes occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions, noise, dust, dirt etc. Physical ability to travel to various work and customer locations and to perform the duties listed above. Mental ability to work on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with frequent disruptions due to people and/or telephone calls.
