Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (Healthcare)



Job Summary

The Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) is a key leadership role within HGH's Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/IID) programs. QIDPs are responsible for ensuring each individual we support receives high-quality, person-centered services that align with Title 17 and Title 22 requirements, while promoting dignity, independence, and inclusion.

 

As a QIDP, you will work directly with the individuals we support, their families/guardians, interdisciplinary teams, and direct support professionals (DSPs) to design, implement, and monitor individualized service plans (ISPs). You will also serve as a trusted leader to our residential teams, guiding best practices, compliance, and continuous improvement in care delivery.

 

The QIDP/Administrator has 24-hour responsibility for the health, safety, programs, and services to consumers residing in assigned houses.


What You'll Be Doig

Consumer Services

  • Ensures fulfillment of the Agency's mission.
  • Chairperson of the Interdisciplinary Team and the development of the Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Participate in preadmission interviews and transitional planning.
  • Identify consumer needs, strengths, and interests.
  • Meet with consultants to provide information regarding skills and behaviors.
  • Ensure follow-through with all ID Team decisions.
  • Designs, implements, and monitors the delivery of programs.
  • Evaluates progress on programs at least quarterly and revises as needed.
  • Coordinates consistent services and acts as a liaison with schools, day programs, consultants, community agencies, families, and intra-agency services
  • Ensures consumer rights and advocates accordingly.
  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures as related to duties.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations as related to duties.
 

Staff Supervision and Training

  • Supervises Residential Supervisors and Residential Service Technicians.
  • Coaches employees to ensure fulfillment of the Agency's mission.
  • Provides initial and ongoing training for direct care staff.
  • Provides direct supervision of staff and their duties within the homes assigned.
  • Evaluates staff performance and provides ongoing feedback.
  • Implements/follows through with disciplinary action as deemed appropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures as related to duties.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations related to duties.
 

Administrative Duties

  • Completes inter-agency paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Manages accounts for department budgets.
  • Explains variances for budget infractions and develops plans of prevention.
  • Maintains a flexible work schedule to ensure quality of services.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and scheduling.
  • Attends and participates in agency meetings as required.
  • Facilitates Human Rights meetings as required.
  • Ensures availability through cell phone.
  • Leads Mock Survey teams as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures related to duties.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations as related to duties.
 

Communication

  • Communicates pertinent information to appropriate ID Team members, family members, case managers, consultants, agency staff, etc.
  • Ensures thorough and timely documentation in consumer records.
  • Conducts self in an open, honest, respectful, and professional manner in all forms of communication with all individuals with whom contact is necessary.
  • Maintains confidentiality with consumer, staff, and agency issues as appropriate.

What You'll Bring To The Role: Qualifications

Education & Credentials

  • B.A. in Social Work or field related to developmental disabilities OR valid CA registration/certification in Education, OT, PT, RN, Rehab Counseling, Speech Pathology, MD, or Osteopathy.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification is mandatory.
  • Medication certified.
 

Experience

  • 1 year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing multiple sites and a caseload upwards of 18 persons.
 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of HIPAA Guidelines and Patient Privacy (required).
  • Proficient with computers.
  • Able to read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with consumers, co-workers, neighbors, volunteers, vendors, and the public.
  • Possess a high degree of patience and the ability to tolerate frustrating situations.
  • Able to multi-task and manage work time efficiently.
 

Physical & Functional Requirements

  • Able to see, talk, hear, walk, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 30 pounds or less repeatedly during a shift.
  • Able to perform housekeeping tasks such as laundry, bed-making, meal prep, cooking, and housecleaning.
  • Able to drive an agency vehicle lawfully and safely in all traffic situations and weather conditions.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Physical Demands

  • Regularly and frequently required to perform physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, reaching, carrying, lifting, bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Assist with lifting, moving, and transferring adult residents from wheelchairs, shower chairs, toilets, beds, and chairs to a variety of locations within the home and community.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
 

Locomotion & Transportation

  • Work involves a significant amount of locomotion, including the operation of an agency vehicle (in-town & freeway driving).
  • Responsible for the safe movement of residents to and from vehicles for appointments, clinics, community agencies, schools, and day programs.
 

Work Environment

  • May be exposed to viruses and/or infection.
  • May have work schedule changed based on operational needs with appropriate notice.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekend, and holiday hours as determined necessary to meet business and resident needs.
  • Residential Supervisors follow a “Working Lunch” schedule, with hours of work inclusive of mealtime.
  • Must be available to cover open shifts as needed.

We support children and adults in San Diego and Imperial Counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome, epilepsy, autism, and cerebral palsy. We provide a full continuum of care including residential care in specialized group homes, independent living support, respite care, and adult foster home services.
