WL - Sr Manufacturing Engineer (Finance)



Position Summary:
Seeking candidate that can work with our engineering and operations teams to drive efficient and cost-effective manufacturing process. This will include defining process instructions as well as supporting our continuous improvement initiatives within process depts.

Essential Functions:

  • Support Manufacturing
    • Devise efficient manufacturing process with fail safe in-process inspection methods and document all processes with work instructions that abide by Ward Leonard standards.
    • Design fixtures for new/existing parts and define manufacturing process of fixtures.
    • Participate in product development programs applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure proper execution of designs to production/build readiness.
    • Maximizing machine uptime, efficiency, and quality to exceed goal of 90% OEE. Collect data with machine monitoring software or develop software to collect data and create KPI's for continuous improvement.
    • Use SolidWorks to create Operation level prints.
    • Troubleshoot and contribute to the resolution of any manufacturing issues that arise.
    • Work with the Quality with NCM disposition and resolution which may consist of updating drawings and engineering masters tied to ERP.
    • Ability to develop and support QMS with establishing proper work instructions.
    • Supports improving costing models through time studies.
    • Troubleshoot machine issues with Maintenance teams.
    • Monitor process flow to implement safety procedures as needed.
    • Support other operation teams as needed to drive process improvement and overall success.
    • Ability to manage others as needed to support process/operation needs.

Education / Skills:

  • Bachelor's in engineering degree preferred with min. 10 years of experience. Degree requirement will be considered based on the level of work experience.
  • Experience with inspection and metrology tools including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators
  • Ability to read blueprints/drawings with ASME Y14.5 GD&T
  • User of CAD and 3D Modeling software - SolidWorks experience preferred
  • Understanding of CNC machining, drilling, grinding & press equipment
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
  • Lean Experience
  • Project management experience to manage multiple activities.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen due to our government contracts

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Job requires long periods of sitting. Since overhead cranes are available in all work areas, Technicians are not required to lift more than 50 pounds.
  • Keeps work area clean and free of scrap materials.
  • Wears and complies with all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) applicable to work area, including but not limited to eye protection and safety shoes.
  • Follows all safety rules applicable to machine as stated on posted signs and in Company policy.
