Role

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing outside plant fiber construction & splicing cost estimation of regional projects throughout the Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi markets. The Operations manager works directly with sales engineers, fiber engineers, and construction managers to track cost actuals and adjust cost estimation process accordingly. Construction projects include, but are not limited to, network expansion projects, laterals, overbuilds, hyperscaler builds, data center / POP buildouts, and other projects as required by the fiber implementation and operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cost estimates for new OSP fiber construction & splicing projects in the Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi markets
  • Design optimal fiber routes accounting for customer diversity requirements
  • Utilize QGIS to digitize proposed fiber routes
  • Review market conditions affecting cost actuals and adjust cost forecast models accordingly
  • Monitor OSP fiber capacity and propose overbuilds as needed
  • Create & maintain accurate rate cards detailing average market costs
  • Review fiber routes for OSP diversity requirements and ensure proposed projects maintain diversity which meets or exceeds customer diversity standards
  • Review Budget Vs Actual reports and adjust cost models accordingly
  • Maintain knowledge of technology in use and/or innovations under development for its impact or potential impact on the operational business process
  • Engage regional cross-functional teams and national Business Process Improvement teams with strong collaboration and effective communication for process improvement & OKR/KPI attainment.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of telecommunications outside plant construction experience or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum five (5) years of project management experience with measured results
  • Minimum (1) year experience in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), with preference to QGIS

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Strong understanding of outside plant construction, including both aerial and underground construction, in the Florida & Georgia markets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creation of pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Intermediate QGIS skills, including inputting data into QGIS system
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Strong project planning and management skills
  • Strong agenda facilitation and team development skills
  • Strong presentation skills – must possess strong public speaking skills
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Must have strong cross-functional collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to successfully influence other cross-functional teams from managers to individual contributors
  • Must exhibit the ability to assess the priority and severity of issues by understanding business objectives, technical costs, and user needs as well as weigh alternatives for resolution.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and drive, along with the ability to quickly learn new technology, and a willingness to think strategically and tactically will be critical to success in this position
  • Ability to diagnose workflow problems and institute remedies
  • The individual must possess and employ the highest ethical and business standards and always conduct himself/herself with the greatest degree of professional integrity.

Organizational Relationship

Reports to: Regional Manager

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in your assigned office on Tuesday through Thursday. On Mondays & Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home.

Compensation

The salary/hourly range offered for this position is $92,000- $126,400 annually. A candidate's offer is determined by various factors including but not limited to, depth of experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, internal alignment, and work location.  Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive a minimum of 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
