Position Summary:
This is a professional non-instructional advising position supporting both an academic department and the College of Arts and Sciences on Tampa campus. This position reports directly to either the College of Arts & Sciences Director of Advising or Assistant Director of Advising with a dotted line to the Chair or Chair Designee in the department for which they advise. CAS Advisors will represent the college, their department, and USF advising in a variety of public forums with a professional demeanor and caring attitude. There is a challenging administrative load requiring strong computer, problem-solving and organizational skills. There is also a high level of personal interactions with students which requires human relational and communication skills, distinguishing this position from advising support positions that are primarily administrative in nature.Minimum qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in any academic field with a minimum of one year of experience at an academic institution or in a professional career field. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.

Requires criminal history background check - Level 1.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

50% Time; Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to students on degree requirements, appropriate class selection, academic policies and procedures and campus resources through individual consultations, electronic communication, group sessions, and presentations.
  • Assist students with identification of long term goals and career plans. Work to position students to meet requirements for graduation within appropriate periods of time while preparing them to meet future goals.
  • Foster student well-being and retention by offering holistic support that helps them navigate challenges and achieve their academic and personal goals.

45% Time, Essential Responsibilities:
  • Maintain detailed advising notes for each student interaction and graduation plans that align with CAS standards.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as responding to student emails, processing permits, and handling enrollment-related requests.
  • Provide support to CAS Advising team and collaborate with USF stakeholders to ensure all CAS students receive timely and accurate assistance.
  • Stay informed through participation in training, team meetings, professional development, and university-wide advising discussions.
  • Use digital literacy skills to implement targeted interventions to support student persistence, engagement, and overall success

5% Time; Essential Responsibilities:
