Set up, adjust and operate the Crathern Casemaker while leading/mentoring a Material Handler who is jogging the cases and piling them down at the end of the machine. Inspect equipment for safety issues. Needs to be familiar with the viscosity of the animal glue utilized and be able to adjust if needed. Monitor quality, output and productivity with cases that will be applied to hardcover books.
Qualifications:
General knowledge of complex machinery with the ability to effectively troubleshoot issues when applicable.
The ability to read and understand measurements utilizing a line gauge to ensure product is in spec.
Has a good understanding of computer programs and the ability to enter accurate data into these programs.
Ability to read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications containing bindery requirements which indicate the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and to maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided.
Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock.
Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations and to refine such adjustments for the weight, color, machinability and quality of paper stock being used and to prevent machining impressions on the case materials.
Skill in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating condition of the Crathern Casemaker.
Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
