College Counselor (Project Management)



The College Counselor is responsible for successful college placement of IMG Student Athletes by creating a resource rich, educational, communicative environment with an annual track record of achievement 

Position Responsibilities

  • Proactively meet with Student Athletes, parents, coaches and/or school, individually and in groups, to talk about and process individual college choices in a highly competitive environment
  • Actively cultivate and maintain a network of colleges and universities to continually expand our collegiate relationships including trends in college placement, higher education, testing and compliance
  • Provide resources so that families can make the best possible choices for their students
  • Create a calendar and schedule college workshops and information sessions including college visits, essay writing workshops and scholarship information sessions
  • Prepare reports and analyzes data on college acceptance statistics and scholarships received by students
  • Maintain detailed senior class records for all students including college application information, scholarships applied, college acceptance and scholarships received
  • Create and maintain a tracking system for students after they graduate from IMG Academy including admission decisions and statistics
  • Partner with internal resources including coaches, registrar, admissions, etc. diligently following up to ensure that our student athletes are on track for successful placement
  • Update and maintain all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, coaches, teachers and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community promoting a positive environment
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant subject area or the equivalent experience in related field
  • Knowledge of colleges, academic programs, admissions policies, and financial aid procedures
  • Strong understanding of NCAA and other governing regulations that pertain to student athlete college placement
  • Commitment to educate and inform students and parents about colleges and admissions process
  • Experience with MS office suite
  • Ability to work with international students

 

Preferred Skills

  • Strong connections with colleges
  • Master's degree in relevant subject area
  • Bilingual

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
  • Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
  • Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
