Systems Administrator II (Finance)



POSITION SUMMARY:

The System Administrator II for the Middle Tier Group at USF IT is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server-based applications and infrastructure. This role involves managing both on-premises and cloud-hosted solutions, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of systems. The System Administrator will work closely with various departments to support the university's IT needs, including troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and implementing upgrades.

For more information about your total compensation package and other USF benefits, please visit: Work at USFBachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training and two years of IT related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree with no specific required field and three years of IT related work experience, OR a Master's degree and one year of IT related work experience, OR a combination of six years of IT related work experience and validated training. Preparation for a relevant IT certification is considered to be related training.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

  • Systems Installation, Configuration, and Optimization: Install, configure, and optimize systems, ensuring they meet organizational requirements. Recommend improvements to system performance and scalability. Document configurations and changes made to systems for future reference.

  • Software Maintenance and Updates: Coordinate software updates, ensuring systems remain secure and up to date. Troubleshoot issues caused by software updates and apply fixes in a timely manner. Implement version control processes for software and track software licenses and compliance.

  • Monitoring, Troubleshooting, and Automation: Actively monitor system performance and address potential issues before they become critical. Troubleshoot and resolve system errors, escalating complex issues as needed. Create and manage simple automation scripts to streamline routine system tasks.

  • User Support, Training, and Documentation: Provide advanced user support, troubleshooting more complex issues and providing solutions. Conduct user training sessions on common software and hardware tools. Create detailed documentation for systems and software, focusing on usability.
