Inside Sales Engineer (Sales)

This position is to support the outside salesmen from the inside by receiving, analyzing, engineering, pricing, and supporting the sales efforts of engineering firms and electrical contractors within the assigned territory in a manner that reflects the company's vision of working as “One Professional Team.” Under the supervision of the Engine Sales Manager, this position will strive to achieve departmental sales goals through a team effort and direct personal sales contact with customers on all diesel and spark-ignited engines going into a standby or prime running application. 

Pay Rate: Based Salary + Commission

Pay rate is based upon education and experience.  

Essential Functions:

Administrative:

  • Provides estimates and bids for all jobs pertaining to the EPG business for the assigned salesmen
  • Reviews plans and specifications and interprets specific job requirements and scope of work
  • Prepares quote worksheets, obtains vendor and shop quotation, and generates cost proposals with the scope of work, for the final proposal from the outside sales team to customer
  • Responds to all telephone and email inquiries for quotations and assists the assigned salesman with the formulation of the proposal to the customer
  • Qualifies inquires and distributes leads to outside sales reps
  • Follows up on all bid jobs to determine the successful contractor and determines Wagner's competitive position on all jobs quoted
  • Maintains a win/loss bid log for outside salesmen via Sales Link and produces monthly reports
  • Uses Sales Link for all Sales, Quoting & Bidding, and Project related business

Organizational:

  • Maintains internal relationships within Wagner for leads, marketing, accounting, and other critical areas of success
  • Attends all Wagner based training, as needed

Sales:

  • Maintains a win/loss bid log for outside salesmen via Sales Link and produces monthly reports
  • Uses Sales Link for all Sales, Quoting & Bidding, and Project related business
  • Attends and conducts meetings with the engineers, contractors, and end users as needed
  • Maintains the CSQ database for all quoted projects
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and meetings and reviewing professional publications
  • Keeps Track of all lead databases on a daily basis and works with assigned salesmen to determine if we have opportunities with-in the deal; Dodge, Cat Leads etc.
  • interacts with the outside sales team daily to play to win on every deal

Travel Requirements:

  • 1-25%

Physical Demands & Competencies:

  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Strong electrical background with high technical competency for Power Generation products
  • Minimum knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems as it relates to Power System projects
  • Ability to manage own projects
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar engines
  • DBS

  • CRM/Sale Link
  • Wagner Power Systems sales productivity software tools (i.e. Sales Link, iMacs, PSQ, Pricing Tools, etc. – Intermediate)

    Work Environment:

    • Noise- Moderate 
    • Indoors and Outdoors

    Required Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • College degree preferred
    • Any other education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • 3-5 years in outbound phone sales preferred
    • 5+ years customer service experience 
    • 5+ years sales experience
