Packaging Machine Operator (Manufacturing)

Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Production Line Lead or Production Supervisor. A Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various packaging machinery (form fill baggers, case packer, cartons formers, printers, etc.)  

Essential Duties: 

  • Efficiently operate various packaging equipment by carrying out machine, product quality, line performance
  • Perform machine assembly and disassembly as required.
  • Utilize Redzone as prescribed by the Redzone Administrator that includes but not limited to:
    • Monitor performance.
    • Report all material defects.
    • Effectively perform all scheduled inspections
  • Maximize product and packaging material yields meeting standards.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in assigned areas.
  • Assist in trouble shooting their equipment.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable SOP's.
  • Perform other duties, jobs or tasks assigned at any area by management to maximize production performance and reduce costs.

Education & Experience / Skills & Abilities: 

Minimum Education Required:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

Certifications / Licenses / Specialized Trainings Required:

None

Total Yrs. of Experience Required:

1 year is preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • General knowledge of baggers and scales, preferable: Ilapak, Pacmac, Ishida.
  • Work in a fast pace high volume environment adaptable to changing priorities to meet schedule demands.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Work in a team environment to achieve performance goals.
  • Must be flexible to work different shifts as needed.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Sustain a positive mental attitude and support company directives.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

Working conditions consist of regular exposure to cold, wet floor manufacturing environments (34-36 degrees F) with slight odors of chlorine and peracetic acid. Also the presence of heavy machinery and forklift traffic, and loud noises.
