The Software Engineering Track

As a Software Engineering associate, you'll design, develop, test, and maintain cutting-edge applications that power our healthcare ecosystem. From mobile apps to enterprise platforms, you'll solve real-world problems that improve lives-while growing your skills in agile development, cloud-native architecture, and modern frameworks.

What you'll do:

• Meaningful Role Work: Work within the Software Engineering track, where you'll design, build, and deliver scalable applications and platforms that support better healthcare outcomes. Gain hands-on experience solving real-world challenges, deepening your technical skills, and driving innovation across The Cigna Group.

Qualifications

We're seeking well-rounded technologists with a passion for Software Engineering and a desire to make a meaningful impact on healthcare. You'll be part of a team that designs, builds, and delivers scalable solutions that power The Cigna Group. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates or those early in their careers who are excited to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting. This role is designed to support your transition from academia to industry.

Ideal qualifications include:

• Education: Full time candidates must have completed a bachelor's or master's degree in a technical program at the time of hire. Preferred degrees include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering. Additional degrees such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Math, Bioinformatics, or Healthcare Analytics will be considered if paired with strong coding experience and exposure to software development principles.
• Technological Proficiencies: Familiarity with programming languages and tools such as Python or other coding languages, prompt engineering, JavaScript, SQL.
• Courses & Experiences: Coursework, technical projects, or internships that demonstrate technical capabilities in software design, application development, or systems engineering. Experience with agile methodologies, team-based development, or open-source contributions is a plus.
• AI Native Mindset: Familiarity withGenerative AI tools(e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and an interest in how AI can enhance software development is highly valued. Candidates should be curious about emerging technologies and eager to explore how AI can accelerate engineering solutions.
• Well Rounded: Leadership or active involvement in clubs, organizations, or technical competitions such as Hackathons, Codeathons, or engineering challenges.

Additional Information:

• Location:This is a Hybrid position out of Bloomfield, CT; Morris Plains, NJ; St. Louis, MO or Austin, TX. A Hybrid position means that you will be expected to work in-person for at least 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday & a 3rd day of choice) at your assigned office location, with flexibility to work at home for a balance of time.
• Schedule: You must be available to work a 40-hour work week beginning July 13, 2026. Working hours are Monday - Friday.

• Work Authorization: This position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa support including H-1B or CPT/OPT/STEM, etc., now or in the future.
• Timeline: Our recruitment process includes a recruiter phone screen followed by up to two interview rounds. Final interviews will be held in person, with travel to one of our offices as needed. The application window is expected to close by mid-October 2025 or once all roles are filled.
• Compensation: For this position, we anticipate offering a base salary of $86,000 for bachelor's degree candidates and $100,000 for master's degree candidates along with a competitive benefit package.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 70,300 - 117,100 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
