Rental Technician Specialist Level I (Finance)



Prerequisite for Position:

A candidate must be well versed in the electrical and mechanical aspect of electrical power generation, temperature control, compressed air and associated applications. Possess in-depth, advanced application understanding as well as troubleshooting skills in the following PSD Rental market and systems:

Electric Power Generation:

Lubrication, cooling, fuel systems (mechanical and electronic)

Generator operations and applications (permanent magnet and self excited

Power Conductor Interconnection and installation (to include manual hauling and placing as well as removal)

Generator monitoring and other associated remote controls and instrumentation

Caterpillar Engine controls (other competitive manufacturers as well)

KVAR and power factor controls

Electrical actuators

Modbus

Governors (mechanical and electronic)

Un-interruptible power supplies (UPS), automatic transfer switch and paralleling gear setup

Battery charging systems

Battery and induction flywheel power sources and all controls associated with voltage regulation and power conditioning

Instrumentation and other associated electrical devices

Voltage applications and regulation

Compressed Air:

Lubrication, cooling, fuel systems (mechanical and electronic)

Compressor operations and set up (to include flooded and oil-free designs)

Configuration and Installation of: compressor hose, fitting, filters, aftercoolers, dryers and air receivers as well as manifolds.

Compressor Application and Installation guidance and functionality for a variety of compressor applications (to include: general air plants, mining and drilling apps, critical process, painting and sand blasting)

Caterpillar Engine controls (other competitive manufacturers as well)

Air regulator set up and control

Battery charging systems

Instrumentation and other associated electrical devices

Governors (mechanical and electronic)

Filtration and moisture separators'

Battery charging systems

Pneumatic material transfer and specialty applications

Temperature Control (Heating, Air Conditioning, Dehumidifying and Chilling):

Advanced knowledge of the operations and functions of the evaporator and compressor systems on all temperature control products in the fleet

Advanced knowledge and experiences with temperature control equipment, applications and installation to include alky cooling, concrete cooling, condenser cleaning, cooling air supply for confined spaces, environmental control, entertainment cooling, etc.

Interconnect of: power conductors, cooling hose, ventilation ducting, filtration, blowers, cooling towers and strainers

Programming and control setup of PLC controls for site specific applications to include associated instrumentation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Technician must be aware and conscious of all safety factors revolving around circuits at high power levels and stored energy. Must adhere to all company safety policies (i.e. EPG safety work policy, and others). Failure to do so can affect employment status.
  • Job specific - technician must be able to logically evaluate the job given to them in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Technician must be able to interpret and utilize as built electrical and mechanical schematics on job sites and in manuals for jobs that they as assigned to. Must be able to interpret manuals for jobs that they are assigned. Be able to use mathematical formulas as a part of troubleshooting.
  • Detailed service report and time must be documented and entered into business system daily as a critical requirement of this position.
  • Must have a good understanding of how to work with the assigned project dealing with software programs, data files, parameters, addressing of Caterpillar International Control symbols, etc.
  • Must be proficient in identifying components in system which include but are not limited to modular system, processors, power supplies, I/O modules and communications modules.
  • Monitoring systems - must be familiar with various monitoring systems including communication options, familiar with Modbus interface, upload/download files and parameters. Must be able to interpret information accordingly.
  • Must be at a skill level to comprehend logic of PSD Rental equipment (generators, compressors and temperature control package systems) and obtain the needed training for the products.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external personnel and customers in written and verbal formats. Must be able to train end users on the operation of commissioned equipment.
  • Assist and reviews projects with PSD Rental Management staff and supervisor. Attend job site project review meetings as required.
  • Assist and verification of Installation readiness prior to beginning installation procedures.
  • Ability to modify or fabricate product in order to meet job specific requirements.
  • Properly maintains all assigned company property and submits all expense records on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct all business and social activities in a manner which reflects integrity and professional excellence.
  • Attend Training courses relative to job positions as needed; perform required monthly Pure Safety training, as well as MSHA and OSHA intermittent training and refreshers as required and notify supervisor of training needs on an on going basis.

EDUCATION:

Must be a high school graduate with the below work experience. A technical college graduate in diesel or electrical technology can off set the below work experiences by 2 years.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

External Candidates :

Must have a minimum of three (3) years direct experience generator packages, switchgear, automatic transfer switches, air compressors, dryers, chillers, air conditioners and dehumidification equipment.

Internal Candidates :

Must be a "top level" GPEC PSD Rental Prep/Yard Tech performer for at least one (1) year.

PHYSICAL:

Must be able to periodically lift and handle in a safe manner items that weigh up to 137 pounds.

OTHER:

Possess or immediately obtains related mechanical/electrical hand tools that meet required company standard.

Field Activity: Must be able to daily operate a service vehicle and drive for extended periods to reach customer's locations. Conduct all business and social activities in a manner which reflects integrity and professional excellence.

Additional:
Field activities require a valid state drivers license (obtain within 30 days of hire a valid license within the state of GPEC's operation) AND possess a safe driving record, as outlined in our GPEC Motor Vehicle Policy. Some vehicles may require having or obtaining a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and/or a DOT medical card.

Must have basic PC skills, preferably with MS Office (Word, Outlook and other Windows based programs).
