Job Description

KPFF is looking for a full-time Project Cost Accountant to join our downtown Portland Structural team. The primary responsibilities of this position will be working closely in collaboration with Project Managers on client billing, project financials, and accounts receivables. We're looking for self-motivated candidates with great communication skills, good time management, and a problem-solving mindset.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Maintain and analyze job cost records.
  • Track contract and project information, ensuring accurate project data in BST11 accounting software.
  • Prepare cost, billing, and payment information updates for projects.
  • Work with project managers and clients to reconcile project costs and invoices.
  • Monitor project A/R - work closely with project managers and clients.
  • Provide creative, new metrics to enhance PM knowledge and visibility on projects.
  • Coordinate and interact with corporate accounting division.
  • Become an expert on BST11 accounting software functionality and office procedures, with the opportunity to educate others on best practices.
  • Assist in other accounting team core responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BA/BS degree with accounting/finance emphasis.
  • Two to five years' applicable experience.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in team environment, be proactive, and take initiative.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting process.
  • Excellent communication skills (by phone, in writing, and in person).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and identify and resolve problems.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong Word skills.
  • Experience in an engineering consulting firm (or other professional services firm).
  • Experience developing custom reports and inquiries utilizing Excel.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Occasionally it may be required to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs.

Compensation

  • The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $70,000 - $85,000. Additionally, we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions. During the interview process, we'll provide detailed information and address any questions you may have about the overall compensation package and benefits.
