Mechanical Engineer (Architecture)



Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer will design and develop sensors for pressure, temperature, and rheological applications, as well as research and evaluate alternate sensor technologies, and provide design support for legacy products.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

  • Lead product/sensor development programs
  • Conceive, design, and develop new sensors and transducers using FEA (Ansys) for verification as required
  • Work with Marketing and Application Engineers to develop functional and technical specifications
  • Develop and execute test plans to evaluate and characterize both design components and integrated sensor assemblies
  • Provide technical support for outsourcing activities
  • Research, evaluate, and report on new sensing technologies
  • Complete Engineering Change Orders, including 3D CAD models (SolidWorks SolidEdge), drawings. Create and revise product BOMs, routings, operations
  • Identify required product configuration/design changes as related to new sales orders
  • Develop and revise manufacturing instructions
  • Manufacturing process support including designing tooling (fixtures/jigs)
  • Support quality improvement initiatives as required.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years of sensor design experience minimum, MSME preferred

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports, and documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, management, and co-workers

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

 

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 5 percent of the time
