Position Summary
The Landscape Construction Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing and directing crew members in the installation of landscape and hardscape projects. This position requires proven skills in landscape construction practices, setting a positive example in behavior, work ethic, and leadership, while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Work with the Project Manager or Construction Superintendent to plan daily/weekly tasks and ensure project schedules are met.
Direct and assign tasks to crew members to accomplish project goals within the allotted time, scope, and budget.
Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and construction specifications to ensure proper installation of landscape and hardscape features.
Lead crews in site preparation, grading, trenching, planting, irrigation installation, drainage systems, sod/seed installation, and other landscape construction tasks.
Oversee the installation of hardscape elements such as pavers, retaining walls, concrete, stone, and woodwork.
Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of construction tools and equipment.
Train and mentor crew members on construction methods, equipment operation, and safe work practices.
Monitor quality of work to ensure compliance with company standards and project specifications.
Communicate with Project Managers and clients on-site regarding project progress, issues, and adjustments.
Complete daily field reports, timesheets, and job documentation accurately and on time.
Transport crew members, materials, and equipment to and from job sites utilizing assigned company vehicles.
Ensure job sites are kept clean, safe, and organized throughout the duration of the project.
Follow and enforce all safety protocols, including OSHA and company requirements.
Perform hands-on construction work alongside the crew when necessary.
