Compliance Associate, Financial Regulatory Affairs

The Associate will assist with the execution of enterprise-wide initiative focused on regulatory, compliance, and risk compliance and governance. This individual supports key compliance efforts including tracking rules, risks, and related policies and standards.

The Associate will work within the new formed Global Regulatory Affairs Office (GRAO) role and report into the Compliance Governance and Policy Manager.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Responsible for supporting the definition and supporting the execution for the Governance and Policy workstreams for compliance risk.
  • Support Second Line of Defense (2LOD) compliance risk management to develop and maintain governance oversight of issues of non-compliance, including escalation to the Global Enterprise Risk Committee.
  • Work closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal and the First Line of Defense (1LOD) subject matter experts.
  • Work with Risk and Compliance subject matter experts to execute policy updates and committee governance processes.
  • Timely escalate and relentlessly pursue resolution of any roadblocks with a clear, end-to-end ownership mindset.
  • Help shape best practices, standards and toolkit and strengthen our capabilities around compliance risk.

Skills/Experience:

  • Understanding of regulatory, compliance and risk related matters.
  • Demonstrated experience in governance and policy execution.
  • Great skills across communication (written and verbal), to foster excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Comfortable taking the initiative but also capable of recognizing complex problems and comfortable bringing questions to management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Governance, Risk & Compliance solutions such as Service Now preferred.

Salary Range:
$74,200 - 126,200 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
