Manager-Reservoir Simulation (Finance)



JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary purpose:

This position is needed to afford reservoir simulation engineering subject matter expertise to carbon sequestration projects in both feasibility and development stages. This role fits within a multidisciplinary subsurface sequestration development team.Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering is required. (Master's / PHD is preferred).
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Eclipse / INTERSECT / CMG Reservoir Simulation experience
  • Petrel RE Workflows
  • Pressure Transient Testing
  • Nodal Analysis
  • CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery
  • Working knowledge in Core Analysis and Petrophysics
  • Experience in programming languages is preferred but not required
Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Reservoir Engineering is required. Reservoir Simulation experience in CCS projects is essential (including constructing, updating and history matching models).
  • Must possess a working knowledge of CCS operations, project management and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in basic engineering skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and ambitious, ability to organize and prioritize daily work with the ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Individual is capable of problem solving autonomously, but is not afraid to ask questions when he/she arrives at a possible solution that deviates from the stated directions
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Working Conditions:
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
  • Primarily working in an office environment, with well site operations and travel as needed.
  • Working after hours, nights, weekends, holidays as needed.

The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide reservoir engineering and dynamic modeling expertise for CCS and Gas Storage projects.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to provide reservoir performance forecasting, subsurface development planning, and optimize asset development plans.
  • Leverage fundamental reservoir engineering and reservoir simulation skills in reservoir characterization, development planning, opportunity generation, and injection/production optimization.
  • Identify key reservoir uncertainties and provide recommendations to mitigate risks
  • Improving reservoir description through fluid analysis, core evaluation, well testing interpretation, and injection/production performance analysis.
  • Generate plots and reports to communicate field performance to management.
  • General CCS industry knowledge.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage groups comprised of professionals with varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.
