CONTRACTOR Coord - Health, Safety, Environ and Sustainability (Biotech)
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Position interfaces with facility management at all levels as required. This position will work with community organizations of law enforcement, fire protection and emergency response.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
This position will initially be responsible for safety, security and fire protection for the commercial assembly plant with assignments for other AM General locations as deemed necessary.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the implementation of an established/proven safety, security and fire protection program consistent with federal, state and local regulations. Coordination of safety engineering requirements with operational/manufacturing needs, reduction of potential job hazards through comprehensive work hazard risk assessment tools, thus reducing risk to possible occupational injury for company facility employees. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
Education requirements are a B.S. Degree in Safety or closely related profession, with 3-5 years industrial experience and a safety certification desirable. Must have knowledge of current federal, state and local regulations. Experience with chemistry and industrial hygiene practices essential. Must have good communication and verbal skills and be able to conduct extensive safety training for employees. Good working knowledge of MS Office programs, statistical analysis, and ergonomic principles of engineering.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Physical effort required consists of normal walking, standing, and sitting in an industrial/manufacturing facility.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Industrial/manufacturing environment in an automobile and truck industry.
