*Senior Strategic Initiatives Coordinator (Project Management)



Stephenson Cancer Center is Oklahoma's only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Cancer Center, and one of only 72 NCI-Designated Cancer Centers in the United States. At the Stephenson Cancer Center, we have an exciting new job opportunity that could be right for you! The Senior Strategic Initiatives Coordinator position is a mid-level level position that works closely with the Strategic Initiatives Manager and the Director of Cancer Research as a part of the Office of Cancer Research efforts to support the center's core infrastructure initiatives. Office of Cancer Research organizes the selection and review process for internal grant programs and a coordination role for preparing reports to our key stakeholders. This person provides professional staff support for large center initiative grant projects, project coordination, and requires a high level of customer service and organizational skills. 

This position will be located on the OUHSC campus with hybrid and/or remote option possible for experienced candidates.

Duties:

  • Coordinate all aspects of large, high-profile grant projects including planning, monitoring, and execution. 
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
  • Collaborate with project teams to collect information coordinate various grant application documents.
  • Ensure compliance with grant guidelines and instructions. 
  • Ensures the department has the infrastructure and resources to perform its role effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensures all project processes and outcomes are consistent with the vision and values of the department.
  • Organize and manage schedules and follow-up communication to successfully meet multiple conflicting deadlines and apply self-discipline to adhere to incremental milestones and long-term targets.
  • Attends and hosts in-person or virtual meetings by acting as the facilitator to solve problems, ordering meals and refreshments, and preparing materials for the meeting. 
  • Participates in meetings and committees.
  • Develop advanced tools and templates for project management to provide excellent support to SCC members and leadership. 
  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks while adhering to strict and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within project teams to enhance project outcomes and deliverables.
  • Catalogs and maintains accurate datapoints, integrity, and quality of information in databases and assists in report development to Stephenson Cancer Center Leadership and for parent funding sources. 
  • Assists with the development and implementation of communication plans.
  • Perform special assignments as requested by the Strategic Initiatives Manager and various duties as needed to successfully support the mission of the Stephenson Cancer Center. This includes but is not limited to providing coordination support for the key infrastructure grants that support our Cancer Center, assisting with the enhancing processes and tools

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree, AND:

  • 48 months experience in project management experience. 

Equivalent Substitution: Will accept 48 months experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 96 months experience

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Knowledge of standard recordkeeping and process tracking procedures.
  • Advanced computer skills with broad knowledge of business software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, with advanced spreadsheet skills and with ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets.
  • Superior organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to gather information, produce reports, and complete work within rigid and soft deadlines, while maintaining a high-level accuracy.
  • Demonstrates effective analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to telecommute effectively in a team setting.
  • Basic familiarity with grant life-cycles and processes is a bonus!
