Principal Environmental Permitting Manager (Finance)

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Principal Environmental Permitting Manager to join our east coast Enviro-Socio Permitting team to lead environmental permitting and regulatory compliance for programs and projects in New York City (NYC). This position will require providing leadership around permitting strategies and implementation and will require managing project delivery and interfacing with clients and regulatory agencies.

Role accountabilities:

As an Environmental Permitting Manager, you will be responsible for leading technical delivery for projects located primarily in and around NYC, with a focus on a single, existing, multi-year, major infrastructure contract. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with environmental permitting regulatory requirements and procedures in NYC and provide senior level support for developing environmental review and permitting strategies, and communicating permit strategy to clients and internal teams.

This role will primarily support Arcadis teams on NYC transit, water/wastewater infrastructure, and/or environmental and flood resiliency projects, located within and/or sponsored by NYC, with opportunities to also support water, wastewater, power, and energy clients. This position may also support similar clients in New Jersey. The successful candidate will have significant experience in overseeing the development of technical reports, work plans, permit applications, and other environmental documents to support environmental impact reviews and permitting, and also providing senior technical review for environmental review and permitting deliverables. This will require expertise in, but not limited to, the regulatory requirements and processes associated with the preparation of City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) documentation, including Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements; and familiarity with and ability to coordinate technical teams with expertise in NYC Department of Parks and Recreation Tree Work Permits and Plan Review Applications, NYC Department of Environmental Protection permits and regulatory compliance requirements, NYC Department of City Planning Uniform Land Use Review Procedure, NYC Waterfront Revitalization Program Review Procedures, and NYC Small Business Services Waterfront Construction Work Permit requirements.

Arcadis offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. A successful candidate can expect to work remotely and/or from the office, as needed, based on requirements and needs of specific projects and teams. This role will require periodic travel (approx. 10-15%) within the NYC metropolitan region.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required qualifications for the role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental or land use planning, or related field
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience managing and executing environmental permitting projects in NYC
  • Expertise in the development of permit applications and permitting strategy, specifically in NYC
  • Proven ability to lead teams and work in collaboration with scientists, engineers, archaeologists, and other specialists in developing environmental documents and permit applications for environmental projects
  • Experience supporting client development including identifying opportunities, developing and maintaining client relationships, and leading proposal development, including the preparation of scopes of work and project budgets

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $217,500.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
