National Health & Benefits Consulting Senior Manager (Hybrid) (Finance)



As part of Cigna's Risk Management and Underwriting (RMUW) organization, the Client Strategy, Consulting and Analytics organization is committed to providing our external clients with analytical reporting and consultation that is relevant and actionable. The Client Strategy, Consulting and Analytics organization provides insights that enable employers to make strategic decisions regarding Cigna's products and services. Our ability to present findings and suggest service offerings to our clients will be critical to the achievement of our enterprise growth goals.

As a National Health & Benefits consulting Senior Manager, you will have a highly visible role, both internally and externally, as your primary responsibility is to conduct research for client, articulate findings and work with them in a consultative manner. You will be responsible for advising approximately 4-6 National accounts and strong presentation and communication skills are a must. In this role you will operate as an account management team component of a larger group including Account Executives, clinical consultants, operations support and service executives. You will play a significant role in the quality and integrity of data collected, analysis performed, and reports generated. You will be expected to work with our Sales teams to set up customized analytical presentations to be delivered to the client (typically in person), on mutually agreed times throughout the year (typically quarterly).

The goal of these presentations is to provide our clients clear insight as to what is driving their results and create insights-driven recommendations to help mitigate their trend and improve the wellbeing of the client population. In this role you will be expected to be the external face of Cigna's analytic capabilities and consultation to the client. Client meetings typically consist of customized presentations for the desired time period where you will be the primary presenter to a larger group consisting of internal sales and team management, external consultants and the client. Your goal is to be a trusted analytic partner by combining your expertise in the business of healthcare with your data skills. This position will allow you to blend creativity, analytical, and technical competencies, relentless problem solving, and business acumen to positively influence the health of a large sized client's population, demonstrate Cigna's value proposition, and become a trusted analytic partner.

Additionally, this role will have 3-4 National segment informatics consults as direct reports and will be responsible for their career developments. This highly visible role will be responsible for maintaining client relationships and ensuring Client Informatics is delivering the value demanded by our most visible clients.

Responsibilities:

Consultative analysis of client data:

  • Prepare clear, concise and actionable client-specific reporting that will be presented to external audience. The goal is to not only explain client performance, but provide meaningful consultation aimed to deflect future spending.
  • Combine large volumes of data into meaningful conclusions by utilizing a variety of business intelligence tools and data sources.
  • Conduct analyses across various data domains such as medical claims, pharmacy claims, eligibility, etc.
  • Create analyses that drive overall strategy and demonstrate Cigna's value proposition to help the client make informed decisions.
  • Identify potential Cigna programs and services for consideration, which would benefit the client.
  • Assist client or Sales with customized reporting for specific intentions (i.e. geographic or population-specific).

Communication with key partners:

  • You will be presenting your findings to external audiences of subject matter expertise, thus command of the information being presented is critical to develop trust and proficiency.
  • As the lead individual for these meetings it is imperative to develop strong partnerships with other internal team members (Sales, Medical, Sponsor executives).
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert for client's data and reporting capabilities.

Contribute to a learning culture:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance analytic tools and actively assist/lead in the development of new forecasting tools.
  • Drive the continual development of "Best Practice" medical cost analytics and forecasting tools.
  • Manage and deliver project work associated with Cigna product initiatives that require informatics build and support.
  • Lead large scale projects including but not limited to new content development.
  • Support the development of junior team members and act as a leader and mentor.

Ability to communicate, collaborate and influence:

  • Be able to translate data ambiguity into purposeful analysis and results.
  • Exceptional presentation abilities are required. You will be the lead presenter for these meetings which can range between 1-4 hours.
  • Internally, you must collaborate and prepare the account team for client interactions by ensuring a clear understanding of our reporting capabilities and what analytics can be used to enhance specific program/coaching initiatives.
  • Effectively partner with and influence a cross-functional teams on various special projects throughout the year as needed.
  • Ability to realize what should be done in challenging situations (both internal and external) and drive the discussion towards a resolution that emphasizes our team's capability to deliver results that are focused on demonstrating Cigna's value.
  • Demonstrated ability creating professional relationships.
  • Successfully manage, lead, mentor, and inspire direct reports.

Strong analytical and technical skills:

  • Capitalize on Cigna's internal analysis tools to develop succinct, meaningful analysis to the client.
  • Determine opportunities and identify solutions to increase analytical processing efficiency within the team.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry, market and competition results.
  • Proficient knowledge of data processing software (SAS, SQL, PowerBI, Tableau, Excel)
  • Understand detailed technical processes and create project specifications to support ongoing improvement of Cigna's reporting and analytics capabilities.

Consultative and results driven:

  • Maintain knowledge of industry, market and competition to aid in your presentations.
  • Educate account team so that they better understand medical cost drivers and manage client needs/demands.
  • Demonstrate passion for and dedication to anticipating and meeting the expectations and requirements of clients.
  • Lead client discussions and effectively represent subject expertise.
  • Utilize skillset to support Cigna's strategy and initiatives.
  • Influence business partners in a way that drives profitable growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Graduate Degree desired
  • 8+ years healthcare/consulting experience with demonstrated business results in client-facing capabilities as well as analytical/technical knowledge.
  • Expertise in Excel and strong experience using PowerPoint and familiar with Tableau, PowerBI or like tools to create reporting.
  • Proficiency in data analytical tools like SAS, SQL, and access to CCW is a plus.
  • Experience in creating and presenting analytically based client materials.
  • Must work well with internal and external client team members by having excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effectively partner with and influence a cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving business results by providing business support that strengthens management's ability to make good business decisions.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 128,000 - 213,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
