Production Superintendent (Finance)

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Production Superintendent to join our Ashland Specialty Ingredients business at our Wilmington, Delaware, facility. This is a highly visible and significant role within the Company and the Life Science Business. This position will report to the Plant Operations Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in and promote the Ashland Z ero I ncident C ulture
  • Attend all required scheduled Health, Safety, and Environmental training sessions
  • Coordinate daily production activities.
  • Collaborate with the quality control team to maintain product standards.
  • Develop and implement production schedules.
  • Monitor production processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage and train production staff.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and maintain machinery.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports.
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet production goals.
  • Resolve operational issues and troubleshoot problems.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of raw materials and supplies.
  • Backup for the plant manager in his/her absence.

Goals for the role

  • Reduce cycle times through lean and Continuous Improvement
  • Increase first pass quality
  • Reduce operational deviations through continuous improvement

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in a production leadership role.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in production management software.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift 25 kgs
  • Stand/Sit for an extended time

License/Cert
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Operational Excellence experience
