Area Child Care Director - Pickerington (Personal Services)



The YMCA of Central Ohio is hiring an Area Child Care Director to support and strengthen our school-age child care programs in the Pickerington Local School District. This is more than a jobits a chance to lead with heart, support working families, and ensure every child has a safe, supportive place to grow before and after school.
Youll guide a team of 2035 caring staff across multiple sites, championing program quality, team development, and compliance with ODJFS and SUTQ standards. Youll work hand-in-hand with school partners, families, and your team to create environments where kids feel seen, supported, and inspired every day.
We're looking for someone who:

Has a bachelors degree in education or a related field

Brings at least two years of experience managing licensed child care programs

Leads with empathy, purpose, and a passion for youth development

Manages, directs and coordinates the child care programs for assigned location(s).

Supervises all Site Directors/Coordinators within the assigned region.

Responsible for staff recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

Ensures high quality programs by visiting child care sites on a regular basis to observe and evaluate operations.

Assists Regional Director with budget development for assigned programs.

Responsible for monitoring assigned programs revenue & expenses to ensure they operate within budget.

Assures compliance of ODJFS licensing, SUTQ*, NAEYC standards as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards (including HEPA) are met and safety procedures followed. *SUTQ responsibilities for all assigned school age and preschool programs.

Performs the duties of site directors or teachers during absences as needed.

Develops and maintains relationships with ODJFS, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

Assists the Regional Director with providing staff leadership for annual fundraising campaigns and committees as assigned.

Maintains proper department files including required paperwork for staff.

Provides assistance to other Y Club / child care programs as needed.

Organizes special events for Child Care programs and YMCA Branch if applicable.

Represents assigned branch programs by attending and participating in Program Innovation Team meetings and projects.

Assists site staff with maintaining written records for childrens files, collecting and reporting program data as required by funding.

Assists in the marketing of programs, enrollment and distribution of program information.

Performs duties in the branch as assigned (building coverage, special events, etc.)

If applicable, complete duties as required by the Child and Adult Care Food program for your sites.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages a team of 20 - 35 staff in the childcare department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training and coaching employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
