Studio Technician, WEWS - Part Time (Creative Design)



E.W Scripps is hiring a part time Studio Technician at WEWS in Cleveland.  As a Studio Technician you'll play a crucial behind-the-scenes role ensuring our productions run flawlessly for our viewers.
 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Prepare the studio and complete all necessary set-ups for broadcasts
  • Assign and set up microphones for on-air talent and conduct sound checks
  • Coordinate studio positioning and placement for live shows
  • Operate teleprompter and cameras during both live and taped productions
  • Work with various technical equipment including graphics systems, VizRt, and Newsticker
  • Perform audio mixing and coordinate satellite feeds
  • Monitor equipment usage and charging systems
  • Assist the technical director with troubleshooting and resolving technical problems during production
  • Remove roadblocks effectively as they occur in the studio
     

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
  •  Specialized training/certification may be required
  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in related field preferred
     

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Prior experience as a Studio Tech I for up to one year
  • Knowledge of technical systems and floor operations
  • Ability to learn and apply new techniques and independent judgment
  • Skills to operate a studio lift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
     

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Indoor studio environment with occasional temperature changes
  • May work near moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, scaffolding, high places, or have exposure to chemicals
