Hospital Medicine - Nocturnist (Finance)



The Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine is looking for Academic Hospitalist Nocturnists (Open-Rank) with a desire to work the night service (7 pm - 7 am). The Academic Hospitalist provides inpatient care for patients in an academic medical setting. This role includes providing direct patient care, consulting with other medical staff, interpreting laboratory results, educating medical staff and students, and managing patient flow. The Academic Hospitalist will also be responsible for ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained, coordinating patient care within the hospital system, developing and implementing care protocols, and providing medical advice to referring physicians. In addition, the Academic Hospitalist may be responsible for presenting research projects to further advance the field of hospital medicine. Those BC/BE in Internal Medicine and/or Family Medicine are encourage to apply.MINIMUM:

Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.

PREFERRED:

1-3 years of physician or hospitalist experience. Experience with hospital medicine. Previous experience in an academic medical center. Proven track record in teaching and/or clinical research preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a desire to work as a nocturnist.Working at USF

  • CLINICAL: Internal Medicine Hospitalist Nocturnist, hospital-based position located at Tampa General Hospital. Clinical responsibilities include participation in our faculty group practice with more than 45 other hospitalists, medical student teaching, and supervision of residents on inpatient services. This position will provide coverage including, but not limited to, medical transplant patients, general internal medicine patients on teaching and nonteaching services, medical consultations, transplant medicine consultations, and co-management of surgical services. Preference will be given to candidates with a desire to work as a nocturnist, providing overnight coverage on these services, with appropriate salary differential applied. Schedule is 7pm to 7am - 7 on/ 7 off block scheduling, with some flexibility.
  • TEACHING: Teach medical students and residents about in-patient and out-patient internal medicine; with the majority of effort involving supervising internal medicine residents in an in-patient setting. Position may also do precepting medical students in an ambulatory clerkship.
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
  • Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
  • Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
  • May represent the university, college/school, or department.
