Irrigation Technician (Agriculture)



Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Irrigation Technician to join our landscaping business. As an Irrigation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems for our clients' landscapes. Your role will involve troubleshooting system issues, performing regular inspections, programming irrigation controllers, and ensuring the efficient and effective use of water resources. Your expertise will contribute to the overall health and beauty of our clients' landscapes by providing optimal irrigation solutions.
Responsibilities:
Installation and Repair:

Install new irrigation systems based on project plans and specifications.
Lay out and trench for irrigation pipes, valves, and sprinkler heads.
Connect irrigation lines to water sources and electrical systems.
Perform repairs and replacements of faulty or damaged irrigation components, including valves, pipes, fittings, and sprinkler heads.
Adjust and align sprinkler heads to ensure proper coverage and distribution of water.

System Maintenance:

Conduct regular inspections of irrigation systems to identify leaks, clogs, or other malfunctions.
Clean or replace clogged nozzles, filters, and screens.
Check and adjust water pressure, flow rates, and irrigation schedules.
Inspect and repair electrical components, such as controllers, timers, and solenoid valves.
Monitor and adjust irrigation system settings to accommodate seasonal changes or specific landscape requirements.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

Diagnose and troubleshoot complex irrigation system issues.
Identify and resolve wiring, electrical, or hydraulic problems.
Use appropriate tools and equipment to locate and repair system leaks or breaks.
Analyze and adjust irrigation system performance to optimize water efficiency and prevent water waste.

Documentation and Reporting:

Keep detailed records of irrigation system inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs.
Document and report any significant issues or recommendations to the supervisor or project manager.
Provide accurate information and reports on irrigation system performance and water usage.

Customer Service:

Interact professionally with clients and address any concerns or questions related to irrigation systems.
Provide guidance and advice to clients on proper irrigation practices and water conservation techniques.
Educate clients on the operation and maintenance of their irrigation systems.

Health and Safety:

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices.
Report any safety hazards, incidents, or injuries to the supervisor.
