Summary of Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Director of Supplier Quality is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing the enterprise-wide supplier quality vision, strategy, and performance management system for Elbit Systems of America. This role will lead initiatives that ensure supplier compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements while fostering long-term, value-driven supplier relationships. Operating from the corporate office and reporting to the Vice President of Quality, the Director will influence cross-functional collaboration across Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Program Management to elevate supplier performance and support business growth.

Responsibilities and Tasks (listed in bullet format) in order of priority to be successful

  • Strategy & Leadership
    • Develop and implement the corporate supplier quality strategy aligned with ESA's operational and quality objectives.
    • Lead a team of supplier quality professionals across multiple business units and locations.
    • Serve as a strategic advisor to the VP of Quality on supplier quality trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Supplier Quality Performance
    • Establish and track supplier quality KPIs (e.g., DPPM, audit performance, SCAR closure rates).
    • Lead the implementation of proactive quality practices, such as APQP, PPAP, FAI, and process capability analysis.
    • Drive systemic root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventive actions across the supply base.
  • Supplier Engagement & Development
    • Build and maintain strong partnerships with key suppliers; support supplier development programs.
    • Facilitate supplier risk assessments and qualification activities in collaboration with Supply Chain.
    • Lead supplier quality reviews and participate in business reviews for key strategic suppliers.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement
    • Ensure supplier compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, NADCAP, DFARS, and customer-specific requirements.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supplier quality organization and supply base.
    • Collaborate with internal audit teams and serve as the point of escalation for critical supplier issues.
  • Collaboration & Integration
    • Partner with Procurement, Engineering, Program Management, and Operations to ensure supplier quality alignment in product lifecycle and program execution.
    • Represent Supplier Quality in new program kick-offs and proposal activities.
    • Support the digital transformation of supplier quality management systems and tools.

Education, Experience & License or Certification

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Quality or Supply Chain roles, with 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Aerospace/Defense industry experience required; knowledge of DoD and ITAR compliance is a plus.
  • Proven experience in developing supplier quality systems and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in quality tools and methodologies (APQP, FMEA, 8D, SPC, RCCA, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.

Preferred Certifications/Licenses:

  • ASQ certifications (e.g., CQE, CQA, CMQ/OE).
  • Experience implementing digital supplier quality tools or ERP integration.
  • Familiarity with risk-based thinking and supplier segmentation models.
