Job Title: Resident Camp Director FLSA Status: Seasonal, Non-Exempt Reports to: Program Director Date: Updated 12/2020
Position Summary: The employee is responsible for the organization of the four villages and the wellbeing of all campers. This is a Support Staff position and reports to the Program Director, and serves as a liaison between the Summer Camp Counselor and the Director. The Support Staff Member also handles the behind the scenes program set up, pertinent paperwork and making sure camp runs in a smooth and organized fashion.
Essential Functions: 1. Participate in pre-camp training and planning process. 2. Responsibility for the safety and well-being of all campers and staff throughout the camp program. 3. Abide by all Camp Y-Noah and Akron YMCA Policies and Procedures, as well as standards set forth by the American Camp Association (ACA) or other camp governing bodies. 4. Supervision of Counselors and Resident Camp Lead during all meals and specialty programs. 5. Review camper confidential forms for resident camp. 6. Evaluation of Counselors in a constructive way, giving and listening to any feedback. 7. Oversee all resident camp and as needed day camp behavioral issues. 8. Distributes, collects, and records midweek camper evaluations. 9. Establishes and implements methods of staff motivation during the summer months. 10. Assist peers with various responsibilities. 11. When needed, gives Counselors breaks in their day. 12. Assists during check-in and check-out. 13. Organizes snack for resident camp. 14. Collects and assists with counselor notes and parent packs. 15. Assists with cabin assignments. 16. Organizes camper core value awards and camper awards for the parent show. 17. Helps manage resident camp behavioral issues. 18. Organizes the Rags program. 19. Any other duty as deemed necessary by supervisor.

Qualifications: · The Resident Camp Director must be a minimum of 21 years of age. A Resident Camp Director must bring to this position an educational and experiential background suited to the requirements of the position, as well as understanding and value orientation appropriate to the Christian principles of the Akron Area YMCA and Camp Y-Noah. A Resident Camp Director must be ambitious with outstanding organizational, human relations and programming skills. Physical Demands: § This position would require the ability to listen to others, observe others actions, read text and information, comprehend instructions and manuals, physical ability to move about the camp property in various environmental conditions.
Performance Objectives: · In order to guide Camp Y-Noah to becoming a premier camp, the Resident Camp Director must possess superb skills in coordinating and delegating responsibility to program staff to ensure the proper planning, execution, evaluation and documentation of summer camp programs. The Resident Camp Director must also ensure proper relations are maintained between Camp Y-Noah and all groups to ensure program support and satisfaction.
