Unix Administrator - Seasonal (Finance)



The Unix Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of our AIX, Linux, and Solaris systems. Will install new system software, respond to user issues, and monitor the ongoing performance of the environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems/technology, or equivalent combination of education and direct work experience in the field of Unix Administration.
  • 5-7 years working in Unix Administration.
  • Strong familiarity with AIX 7.x, RHEL 7,8,9 and Solaris 11.
  • Unix auditing, configuration, and performance monitoring.
  • Understands the principles of cybersecurity, risk management, compliance, and project management; related to aspects of our complex Unix environment.
  • Familiarity with GPFS, Kubernetes, Ansible and Rubrik a plus.
  • Familiarity with IPV4, VLANs, and ethernet topologies.
  • Familiarity with NIM and Satellite.
  • Familiarity with SAN concepts, LUNs, LVM and various file system types.
  • Familiarity with performance monitors (NMON, TOPAS, TOP) and debugging tools (iptrace, Wireshark, tcpdump).
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS, EC2, Cloud Formation, Teraform a plus.
  • Works well in a team and be able to use their initiative and understanding to manage their own research efforts.
  • Communicates efficiently and confidently, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintains excellent standards in their work and show a high degree of attention to detail.

  • Lead and provide hands on direction, and Tier III support to the offshore Unix team including administrators.
  • Understand and enforce security best practices within a global enterprise.
  • Create and implement standardized backup and recovery policies.
  • Apply patches and upgrades to keep the OS current, stable, and secure.
  • Analyze and evaluate new technology solutions within the Unix environment.
