Experienced Grooming Operator (Full-Time Seasonal) Winter 2025/26 (Manufacturing)



SUMMARY
Experienced Snowcat Operator: Operate Prinoth Snowcats to maintain alpine ski trails. Assist the Grooming Supervisor in the daily responsibilities of the grooming staff. Offer guests safes, skiable, desirable and fun terrain possible. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Fulfill all duties of Grooming Operator.
2. Complete routine grooming tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
3. Ability to complete special projects, traverse maintenance, trail grading, and detail work with quality results.
4. Assist with coordinating the grooming staff according to workload and weather conditions.
5. Lead other grooming operators in all phases of grooming as necessary.
6. Monitor, maintain and proactively improve trail conditions. Report problem areas to superior.
7. Assist with training & development of other operators.
8. Set example by maintaining a safe working environment by following company policies, proper training and orientation.
9. Accept emergency assignments as required for successful mountain operations.
10. Operation of blade, tiller, and winch with skill & finesse.
11. Night shift working hours include holidays & weekends. Some job sharing may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:

Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the grooming supervisor in the daily responsibilities of the grooming staff. Lead a pack of machines as necessary.

WORK SCHEDULE
Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
5 years prior alpine grooming experience. Experience as a winch operator preferred. Through understanding of grooming objectives & techniques. Receptive and responsive to instructions. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to accurately read and make measurements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine shift reports and correspondence. Ability to speak English effectively in a group meeting and via radios.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
