Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Dean, College of Public Service works with the Dean to develop the College of Public Service through functional efficiency. The Associate Dean advises students who are on probation and suspension, coordinates special projects for the college such as CPS catalogue revisions, and addresses course equivalency evaluations.
DUTIES
Assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of Departments and Programs of the College of Public Service Collaborates with Dean on planning and executing college strategic initiatives Supports the Dean by operationalizing college MOUs, contracts, and agreements
Provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, course scheduling, experiential learning (including service learning, internship, study abroad, and undergraduate research), and performance appraisal. Provides input into developing the budget
Serves as a member of the dean's senior staff and sits on other college leadership committees as required. Serves on the Associate Dean's Council, and as an active member of the UHD community. Maintains an active discipline-specific research agenda
Teaches one course each long semester in the Urban Education, Criminal Justice, or Social Work programs, as required
Performs additional duties requested by the Dean and represents the office of the Dean in their absence

Knowledge of the operations of a College of Public Services, and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices

Primary Work Location:
Works in an office environment
Physical Demands:
Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:
Doctoral degree in Education, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field
Required Experience:
Minimum of six (6) years of related job experience
License/Certification:
None required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in administration is preferred
Demonstrated ability to introduce new impactful initiatives and bring these to completion is preferred
Experience in establishing and developing partnerships with key business and community leaders
