Communications & Marketing Director (Finance)

Position Summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a dynamic and strategic communications and marketing leader to advance Tetra Tech's International Energy Services practice and our global portfolio of client initiatives. Reporting to senior leadership, the Director of Communications and Marketing will provide expert guidance on strategic communication planning, manage external marketing and branding initiatives, oversee internal communication platforms, and lead a diverse team of content creators and communication professionals. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to advise and collaborate closely with global project teams, fostering a culture of clear, compelling, and impactful communications. International travel may be required, including to developing countries or other challenging environments with limited infrastructure and health care services.

Position Responsibilities

Client Communications

  • Develop and oversee strategic communications planning in collaboration with senior leadership and project teams.
  • Provide support to project teams to produce key deliverables for multi-stakeholder audiences.
  • Guide the conceptualization, design, and production of diverse communication products, including fact sheets, presentations, infographics, videos, newsletters, blogs, speeches, briefing documents, and visual storytelling assets.
  • Advise technical staff on best practices in communications, enhancing programmatic goals related to awareness, thought leadership, and adoption of innovative approaches.
  • Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with client branding guidelines and requirements.
  • Mentor and support communications staff to enhance their professional skills and knowledge.

Marketing
  • Drive external marketing strategies to strengthen Tetra Tech's leadership position in the global energy sector through pitch decks, website content, thought leadership pieces, targeted social media outreach, measurable advertising, and strategic B2B initiatives.
  • Develop high-quality, compelling content and cultivate relationships to amplify Tetra Tech's core energy expertise via corporate marketing channels and external outlets.
  • Champion the strategic use of CRM and related tools to manage client relationships and understand market trends.
  • Craft and execute integrated strategies for industry conference participation, speaking engagements, and sponsorships.
  • Oversee and manage annual marketing budgets, maintaining cost-effectiveness and strategic alignment with organizational goals.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal writing, content development, and lead generation strategies.
  • Maintain key organizational memberships.

Internal Communications
  • Support senior leadership in developing and delivering effective monthly all-staff meetings and periodic updates, as well as development of emails, speeches, and other internal presentations.
  • Oversee content management and user engagement on internal communications platforms, including intranet portals, knowledge management repositories, and collaborative digital tools.
  • Act as liaison with corporate headquarters, ensuring accurate, timely communication of corporate information and announcements.

Line Management
  • Directly manages one marketing specialist and one editor.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field
  • 15 years of relevant experience
  • Subject matter expertise in international development, communications, and marketing
  • Experience implementing communications campaigns that involve multiple and diverse audiences
  • Experience working on U.S. government-funded development programs and initiatives, or other government- or donor-funded projects
  • Direct experience in the energy sector
  • Ability to think, write, and present content in a creative and compelling manner
  • Demonstrated experience developing content across digital, print, and social media channels
  • Experience with email newsletter platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Motivated and energetic self-starter with a positive, inclusive, and creative outlook
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Native fluency in English (reading, writing and presentation skills)

Preferred but Not Required Qualifications

  • Basic design skills and experience developing infographics using platforms such as Canva, Adobe Express, and/or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Direct experience in the energy sector in developing countries and/or emerging markets contexts
  • Fluency in Arabic, French, or Spanish (reading, writing and presentation skills)
