RN - Ambulatory - Neurosurgery (Healthcare)



80% FTE, 32 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will work at University Hospital and 20 S. Park St. in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to:

  • Contribute to a highly collaborative team and learning environment, where everyone's voice is valued, staff wellbeing is a priority and critical thinking, and questions are encouraged.
  • Engage in collaboration, serving as the touchpoint for patients via MyChart, phone and in-person.  Programs within the neurology clinic include: epilepsy, headache, movement disorders, MS, neuromuscular disorders, neuropsychology and stroke care.
  • Serve as an educator for patients and their families regarding therapies, treatment plans and medications.
  • Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures, muscle biopsies and skin punch biopsies.
  • Serve as an advocate and educator for patients and families effected by stroke who are transitioning care from the hospital to home.

Education:

Minimum – Graduate of school of nursing.

Preferred – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Work Experience:

Minimum – Six (6) months of RN experience.

Preferred – Relevant RN experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – Registration as a registered nurse in the state where employed or licensure in a state in the licensure compact and CPR/BLS Certification.

Preferred – Applicable clinical certification.
