Kleinfelder is looking to add a Civil Engineering Department Manager in Nevada based out of our Smoke Ranch (Las Vegas) office.

Kleinfelder is experiencing rapid growth in all areas of infrastructure including Transportation, Water, Site, and Power throughout the company. We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer Lead familiar with the markets in Nevada and/or throughout the West.

As Civil Engineering Department Manager with experience in the Transportation, Water, Site, Infrastructure and/or Power markets, the successful candidate will be an experienced seller-doer and provide sound team leadership, strategic planning, project management, mentoring to staff, and technical review/quality control on civil design projects throughout Nevada This position will based in our Las Vegas, NV office and will provide an important role to help grow and position Kleinfelder's civil engineering capabilities throughout Nevada.

This professional should possess minimum of 15 years of experience in civil engineering design with strengths in any or a combination of the following: roadways/highways, bridges/structures, flood control/drainage, water resources, grading, water/wastewater, utilities and/or site. In addition, the professional should have experience in preparing construction documents, and the ability to work within a team of diverse engineers in the local office and in offices throughout Kleinfelder.

Typical Duties Overview

  • Lead operations for the civil engineering team including project managers, professional engineers, engineering interns, drafters/designers and support staff.
  • Act as the lead or oversee securing new design contracts from clients and teaming partners.
  • Lead planning, workload, and quality for the civil engineering team.
  • Support the development and management of project scope, budget and schedule.
  • Manage complex projects and provide detailed civil engineering expertise.
  • Provide technical review of work performed by local engineering staff.
  • Generate professional plans, specifications, technical calculations, exhibits, and reports.
  • Oversee material quantity take-offs and engineer's construction cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines as needed to complete project deliverables, including in-house Bridge Design, Environmental, Geotechnical, and Structural Professionals.
  • Mentor staff and assist project managers with project staff resourcing.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations.

Specific requirements include:

  • Experience in team management and leadership.
  • Experience in providing project management and technical expertise on multiple projects for the evaluation and resolution of Civil engineering problems and designs.
  • Experience in providing strategic planning and implementation in growing civil engineering practice.
  • Self-motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment engaging staff from large geographies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, MS or MBA is beneficial
  • Professional Registration in Nevada
  • 3 + years of client interaction / business development experience
  • 15 + years of experience in civil engineering design
