Microbiologist I (Biotech)

ROLE PURPOSE:  The purpose of the Microbiologist I role is to act primarily as a testing Microbiologist, focusing on performance of standard microbial testing procedures in the on-site lab to ensure the quality and safety of the product. A Microbiologist I may also perform and provide support for other routine lab activities or special projects as assigned

MAJOR ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Complete microbiological testing on samples received following site SOPs.
  • Perform environmental monitoring at the site.
  • Prepare microbiological media.
  • Conduct quality control checks of microbiological media, including growth promotion.
  • Operate and maintain lab instruments and equipment.
  • Order, maintain, and inventory supplies for laboratory use.
  • Aid in creating and updating site SOPs and other Controlled Documents.
  • Aid in performance of laboratory investigations, such as environmental monitoring or out of specification investigations.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and CREDENTIALS:

  • B.S. in Microbiology or other related field preferred; OR Associate's Degree in a scientific field with minimum of one year related laboratory experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Prehensile dexterity sufficient for tasks such as transferring and streaking microbial colonies onto media.
