Data & Analytics Intern (Information Technology)

Why We Need You:

PEMCO has a dynamic and exciting opportunity for a Data & Analytics Intern to join our community.  In this role, Interns will gain hands-on experience working with large datasets, writing efficient queries in SQL, performing data analysis using Python, and exploring AI/ML models to derive insights that drive business decisions.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • The intern will work closely with the Data and Analytics Team, gaining hands-on experience in managing complex data sets, developing analytic models, and presenting results.
  • This role offers unique learning opportunities, including mentorship from senior professionals and direct involvement in impactful projects.
  • Use Python to transform and analyze large data sets for trends, anomalies, and insights.
  • Create educational content or short videos on topics such as data literacy, data governance, and best practices in data handling to support internal training efforts.
  • Support the development and evaluation of machine learning models using libraries like Scikit-learn or TensorFlow.
  • Build visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, or Python (Plotly/Matplotlib).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Document processes, queries, and models to ensure knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
  • Participate in data quality assessments and recommend ways to improve accuracy and completeness.
  • Network with company employees and leaders as appropriate to obtain information and guidance about intern work and to expand the intern's contacts in their field of study.
  • Represent PEMCO in the community during intern team events.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with PEMCO's policies, values, code of ethics and business conduct.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Attending a university/college (Juniors and Seniors preferred), in a major that relates closely to the internship.
  • Prior experience for interns may include prior work in any customer facing role, significant team projects in the field of study, and prior internships.
  • Independent: Is highly self-motivated and self-directed. The ability to work with limited direction and communicate relevant information to the appropriate levels during times of uncertainty.
  • MS Office: Skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Precision: Is detail orientated and has a strong desire for accuracy and thoroughness
  • Team Player: Is responsive, flexible, and able to succeed in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, building effective working relationships and partnerships with internal partners, customers, and vendors.
  • Communicator: The ability to communicate clearly and informatively, verbally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and the community in both technical and non-technical professional language.

Compensation:

The compensation for this role is shown below. 

  • Greater Seattle Area: The pay for this position is $30.00 per hour.
  • Outside Greater Seattle: The pay range for this position is $26.50 per hour.

Greater Seattle Area is defined as working within approximately 100 miles of Seattle.

Outside Greater Seattle is defined as working approximately 100 miles or more from Seattle.
